Tanning Bulbs

Wolff tanning bulbsOur new tanning bulbs feature built-in reflector technology, and generate up to 50% more tanning power in each bed. This means a tanner may get the same tanning power in a SunSplash 16 bulb bed with the new reflector lamps than they could get in a 24 bulb bed without reflector lamps.

In essence, our new tanning bulbs feature a reflective coating at your face inside of the glass tube, which forces the UV light to travel on a straight path directly to your skin's surface during the tanning session. This gives the face tanning feature without using extra power. In a regular non-reflective bulb, the UV light bounces off all surfaces within the bed, which means the ultraviolet light is losing power before reaching your skin.

  • Sunsplash bulbs are designed for a unique blend of UVA and UVB tanning rays in 100-watt lamps, which maximizes tanning performance and increases the lamps tanning life. With Sunsplash lamps, you will achieve a deeper and longer lasting tan as compared to most salon-brand lamps.
  • Sunsplash lamps feature a reflective coating stretching from end to end on the inside of the glass tube. The built-in lamp reflector forces the UV tanning rays on a straight path directly to your skin's surface. Sunsplash lamps produce up to 50% more output. In a regular non-reflector lamp, UV rays traveling longer distances lose their tanning power as they bounce everywhere in the bed before reaching your skin.
  • Sunsplash offers a dual phosphor tanning system for the face/arm. This offers two levels of tanning power in one lamp. The Sunsplash facial/arm styles were designed with a special combination of tanning power for specific areas of your body. The pink portion of the lamp proviodes up to 20% stronger tanning rays than the blue or body portion of the lamp.

Safety concerns are addressed by independent testing labs for these types of lamps. According to the Health Physics Society, a recognized specialist in radiation safety, "Most phototherapy and tanning booths use UVA lamps. UVA is the most commonly encountered type of UV light and the least harmful because it has the least energy. UVA exposure has an initial pigment-darkening effect (tanning) followed by erythema if the exposure is excessive. Atmospheric ozone absorbs very little of this part of the UV spectrum. UVA is needed by humans for synthesis of vitamin D; however, overexposure to UVA has been associated with toughening of the skin, suppression of the immune system, and cataract formation. UVA light is often called black light."
